I remember the last epidemic, with great piles of burning corpses in Cumbria. There were gangs of people in yellow protective clothing spraying the wheels of cars. It was an awful time. I also took some students on a trip to Ireland where there was a terrific panic that someone English was going to tramp the disease into their rural economy. I've never had to wipe my feet so often.
Lilith: Ugh, I went to Devon and same thing there. The smell of rotting flesh was awful. Poor farmers.
